Buffalo Suzuki Strings in Tonawanda aims to instill “in every student, beginning at an early age, the pursuit of excellence through a strong partnership of parents, teachers, students and the community.” The center was founded to follow the philosophy and method of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who developed a technique of music education for students as young as three years old and with the goal of “World Harmony Through Music.” Private lessons of 30, 45, and 60 minutes in violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, classical guitar, and harp are offered on a weekly basis. Group lessons are also available to allow students to practice repertoire together and learn musicianship skills. The Suzuki Summer Workshop is a weeklong event bringing together Suzuki and traditional students, parents, and teachers to “share the joys” of making music. Annual and semi-annual recitals are scheduled at a variety of venues in and around Tonawanda.
